He felt as though he was snuffing out the only thing that could motivate his family and friends to help him; hope. He felt that there is a huge need to implode myths associated with mental illness. During interview moments that the patient showed amazingly stable mental and emotional capacity, he said that there was the need to show mentally ill persons that such diagnoses do not need to lead to oblique, painful lives. He had a feeling that people like him still deserved a chance to be happy and live productive lives. All that it calls for is the right resource.Such resources include therapy, medication and always a measure of good luck. He called for support from friends and family to manage and banish their inner demons. In as much as his condition does not allow him to form long-lasting friendships, the patient said during one of the follow-up interviews that for his condition, he would love to be forgiven, loved and forge lifelong friendships. He believes that these are some of the most important complements to medication and therapy. He said that his situation had tremendously improved in the past 4 years given the support, care and love he receives from his niec e, a medical doctor by profession.A narration of self-destructive urges by the patient was appalling and utterly shocking. He said that at the time of self-destruction, he did not realize that he was dealing with himself. He supposed that he had developed a therapy that provided the things he needed for several years but never achieved. In his description, he was in hell. He learnt the tragedies associated with severe mental illnesses the hard way. He banged his head against the walls of the rooms he was locked in. At the age of 33, the patient was taken to the Institute of Living for mental care. He quickly became the only occupant of a unit called Tom II, a seclusion room for the most severely affected mental ill persons. The staff of the health facility saw no other alternatives. The patient said he habitually attacked himself. He burnt his wrists with cigarette and occasionally slashed his arms. He severely cruised his mid section and legs using any sharp object he could find ar ound. In the seclusion room, there was only a chair, a small bed and a tiny window with metal bars. There were no weapons. He confessed that the more he stayed in the cell, his urge and deep desire to die deepened. After realizing that he had no weapon around, he resorted to the only thing that made sense to him. He banged his head on the hard floor and the walls.These episodes and experiences of self-destruction of the patient were completely out of his control. According to him, he had an idea that someone else was hurting him. He felt like the pain was coming, someone was going to do it, but he had absolutely no control. In his mind, he longed for someone to help him. He called upon God and wondered why He could not come to his rescue. He confessed feeling totally empty at that time. He had no way of communicating what was going through his mind. He lacked a way of understanding it.Looking at his childhood, there were no tangible clues to the condition that had destroyed his life for the past 32 years. He said that he was an excellent student and was natural in playing guitar. He was the fourth of eight children of a banker and a teacher. The patient was a troublemaker as a child, but this was normal at his age. However, his siblings became more accomplished ad were relatively more attractive. Probably, these caused the currents of distress that ran under the surface. Nobody took notice of any changes until he developed relentless headaches and was bedridden. A psychiatrist recommended that he seek medical attention at Institute of Living. The medical practitioners diagnosed him with schizophrenia. He was placed on dosage of Librium, Thorazine and other powerful drugs. Additionally, he was placed on Freudian Analysis. The doctors also strapped him down for electroshock treatments. The first time, he received 14 shocks. The second visit for the electroshock, he received 16 shocks. Nothing changed for the patient. Soon, he was placed on a seclusion room for t he severely mentally ill.Additionally, the patient said that a discharge summary sheet dates 16th July 1999 noted that during 21 months of hospitalization at the facility, he was the most mentally disturbed patient within the facility. He kept banging his head wherever he would. The tragedy remained for nobody cared what was happening to her. Medical care only made matters worse.The patientà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s ability to recover from the mental disarray of the extent portrayed before to a state of being able to respond sensibly to an interview can be explained with a number of psychological and sociological theories. 32 years back, the patient was considered mindless and without sense of direction. Medical diagnoses and medications did little to help him. He confessed that therapies did not remedy the situation. According to the client, his continued recovery lies in the mind. With the help of his niece, the patient has incessantly accepted himself for who he is. His desire and deep urge to kill himself arose from the disappointment of the gulf between the person he wanted to be and the person he actually became. This left him homesick for the life he would never experience or know, hopeless and desperate. He felt that the gulf was real and not bridgeable (Diamond 1992, 47).Recovery process in such Borderline Personality Disorder calls for radical acceptance. From the emerging discipline of behaviorism, people can learn new behaviors. Acting differently from the usual can alter underlying emotions of a person. Suicidal persons have tried in several ways to transform without success (Chinn Watson 1994, 21). The only way to get through to such persons is to acknowledge that their suicide attempts made sense. To people like this patient, the thought of dying is a sweet release from the bondage of sufferance.According to popular beliefs, people are the architects of their personalities. Racial stratification emerges not only throughout individual interaction based on personal bias, but rather emerges within cultures and institutions themselves. Some would be naà ¯ve to think that racism merely hurts the feelings of the oppressed. The full extent of racism is wide-reaching, and it impacts matters much more complex than a person’s emotional state. Take, for instance, the issue of â€Å"silencing† in the American school system. Known mostly for being the first Englishman to circle the world between 1577 and 1578, and for helping to defeat the Spanish Armada, Sir Francis Drake was a very important man in history. No birth record exists for Sir Francis Drake, but he was believed to have been born in 1541. Born in Tavistock, England, in a cottage made of tree branches, Drake was the oldest of his eleven brothers. He was the son of Mary Mylwaye Drake, and his father Edmund Drake who was a farmer. The Research Process: The research process went well, I felt like it was easier than most research projects. I found the project more preferable to a traditional research paper. I feel like it is a better alternative because it gave us time to really research and give good connections. I ended up learning more from the primary connections because I put more into my research. I felt like the secondary connections was not as informative because I was researching connections that someone else had already made but with the primary I had more possibilities to really learn. I felt like there were less restraints on what I could connect the author to. With this project I learned that it is not a simple as just typing an authors name into a search bar, I found out that you have to dig deeper than that. I started my research on Wikipedia and then I would look at the sources Wiki used and get my research from there. Procedure: The procedure of the project went well. I liked working individually, that way I am the only one to blame for my grade. With group assignments there is always the chance of getting a not so helpful group or the lazy partner. Karl MarxBeing a product of bourgeois society, the socialist movement is linked to the vicissitudes of capitalist development. It will assume different forms according to the changing fortunes of the capitalist system. In circumstances which are not favorable to the formation of class consciousness, it will not grow, or will practically disappear. In conditions of capitalist prosperity it tends to transform itself from a revolutionary to a reformist movement. In times of social crisis it may be totally suppressed by the ruling class. Since socialism cannot be established without a socialist movement, it follows that the destiny of the latter ultimately will determine whether socialism will ever be realized. All labor organizations form part of the general social structure and cannot be consistently anti-capitalist, except in a purely ideological sense. To acquire social importance within the capitalist system they must be opportunis t, which means they must avail themselves of the given social processes to attain their goals, however limited the latter may be. Opportunism and realism are apparently the same thing. The former cannot be defeated by a radical ideology which opposes the whole of the existing social relations. It does not seem possible to slowly assemble revolutionary forces into powerful organizations ready to act at favorable moments. Only those organizations that did not disturb the prevailing social relations acquired any importance. If they started out with a revolutionary ideology, their growth implied a subsequent discrepancy between their ideology and their functions. Those organizations opposed to the status quo, yet organized within it, must finally succumb to the forces of capitalism by virtue of their organizational failures. This appears to be the dilemma of radicalism: in order to accomplish anything of social significance, actions must be organized. Effective organizations, however, t end towards capitalist channels. It seems that in order to do something now, one can only do the wrong things, and in order to avoid false steps one should undertake none at all. The radical socialists are destined to be miserable: they are conscious of their utopianism and they experience nothing but failures. In self-defense, the ineffective radical organizations will put the accent on the factor of spontaneity as the decisive element for any social transformation. As they cannot change society by means of their own forces, they place their hopes in spontaneous uprisings of the masses and in a future unfolding of these activities. At the beginning of the century the traditional labor organizationssocialist parties and trade unionswere no longer revolutionary movements. Only a small left-wing within these organizations preoccupied itself with questions of revolutionary strategy and, consequently, with questions of spntaneity and organization. This naturally involved the problem of revolutionary consciousness and of the relations between the revolutionary minority and the proletarian masses indoctrinated by capitalism. It was judged highly unlikely that without revolutionary consciousness the working masses would act in a revolutionary manner solely by the compulsion of circumstances. This problem acquired special importance due to the split in the Social Democratic Party and the crystallization of Lenins conceptl of the necessity of a revolutionary vanguard made up of professional revolutionaries. Aware of the factor of spontaneity, Lenin granted great importance to the special necessity of centrally organized and directed activity. The stronger spontaneous movements are, the more urgent is the necessity of controlling and directing them by means of a profoundly disciplined revolutionary party. The workers must be protected from themselves, so to speak, because their lack of theoretical understanding can very easily lead them to squander their creative powers spontaneously and to fail in their struggle. Opposition to this point of view was maintained with great coherence by the left-wing Rosa Luxemburg.(2) Lenin, like Rosa Luxemburg, saw the necessity of combatting the opportunist and reformist evolutionism of the established labor organizations and sought a return to revolutionary policies. We have to make the right choices when it comes to food because we decide what’s good and bad for us and we are free to choose but not from the consequences. In our society we all know that McDonalds and other companies target young kids into consuming their unhealthy food which causes obesity. Most kids are introduced into these kind of fast foods through advertising and toys which kids prefer the most. Some foods are addictive which makes them come for more and more and it makes them more obese. â€Å"advertising is nothing new, but is more prevalent than ever†. If you consume fat you become fat. If the Companies produce products or foods that are unhealthy for human consumption but for their own benefit they will find the most efficient and economical way to produce the food at a lower cost also that it’s affordable to most people. If companies become more responsible and produce food that are beneficial for human consumption then they would have had more costumers and more happy customers when it comes to their health. We should also realize that there are good and bad out there and our choices may reflect on how we make that decision. If fast food companies were never established this problem wouldn’t have existed. I think that the companies are to blame for starting fast food, but I don’t think they had an intention to make their clients obese but they base it on business by making their franchise more affordable also think that the consumers have no idea what they are consuming due to the ignorance in nutrition or health. But most people know what’s good and bad for them and it’s their choice and decision to buy and consume whatever’s good or bad for them. And I also think that there is always a good and bad to everything, like light for darkness, the lie and the truth, good people and bad and sometimes life is like a magnet where there is a south and north pole different fields one negative and the other positive. We as humans should make the right decisions and choices when it comes to problems like this where we analyze the issue and come up with an answer. We are free to make choices but we are not free from the consequences of our choice. The superior cadet is awarded annually by the Department of the Army to an exceptional cadet in each rank. For each unit there are three awards, the highest being the academic achievement insignia, an award given out to the top ten percent of each JROTC class based on grades. Marksmanship badges can also be earned. ExpertShoot, the highest, require a marksman to shoot a score of 200 out of 300. Each year, a leadership challenge camp is held at various locations around the United States. This camp instills leadership, teamwork, confidence, trust, sharing, and responsibility. JROTC campers learn how to work as a team together to reach a common goal. At JROTC camp, every activity is designated for self-confidence and trust between you and other JROTC campers.
